*and it just keeps getting better*

Delilah completed her 3 days worth of shots of rocephin and was finally getting better when she got a horrible yeast infection in her diaper area from all the antibiotics she had been on. I was using Nystatin cream (rx anti fungal) and it was helping some but not enough so when we went in to f/up with her pediatrician about her ears she looked at her diaper rash and told us to use "KC diaper cream" which is a diaper cream a local pharmacy compounds with a bunch of different stuff that is supposed to work wonders. I went to get it and it was $41 for a small tube! No way was i spending that on butt cream so i said that she has a lot of allergies to things and i wanted to see a list of ingredients to see if she was allergic to anything. They showed me and i took a mental picture and was on my way, without the $41 butt cream. I went home assembled all my needed items and started to make my own butt cream :) Here is what it consisted of:

Maalox suspension (used to help adhere the cream to the butt)

Hydrocortisone cream 1% (helps with inflammation and itching)

Bacitracin ointment (can be found in triple antibiotic ointment which is like neosporin and helps prevent and or clear up a bacterial inf)


Lotrimin OTC cream (http://www.amazon.com/Lotrimin-Ultra-Cream-42-Ounce-Tubes/dp/B001EPQ2IE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1265859742&sr=1-1) (is an anti fungal and kills and or prevents a yeast inf)


Nupercainal 1% (http://www.amazon.com/Nupercainal-Hemorrhoidal-Anesthetic-Ointment-Oz/dp/B0010Z8Y1G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1265859699&sr=8-2 ) (a topical analgesic)

A&D ointment (http://www.amazon.com/Original-Ointment-All-Purpose-Skincare-Formula/dp/B001BA60N4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1265859788&sr=1-1 (heps act as a barrier while moisturizing the skin)

Calmoseptine (http://www.calmoseptineointment.com/ ) (acts as a protectant and helps heal)

Petroleum Jelly or Desitin Clear (acts as a barrier)

Balmex (helps with irritation)

You mix all of the above together in equal parts and apply to the rash after every changing until rash is gone.

This "Snell Butt Cream" worked wonders and cleared up her infection quickly but then last Friday she got a different kind of butt infection. This time it was in certain areas and consisted of tiny red dots that along where the leg bands of the diaper are were connected and scabbing and oozing and along her pubic area there were small dots in lines. STRANGE! I took her into her dr on Sat because i have never seen any diaper rash like this before and surprise its another yeast infection topped off with a staph infection. So we now have her on oral antibiotics (AGAIN!) and a topical bacitracin ointment and the Snell Butt Cream. It looks so sore and is very painful for her. And while Delilah and I are at the dr what do i notice in her mouth....THRUSH :) Yes she has a yeast inf on her ass and in her mouth, lucky girl. Last Thursday i noticed her lips were chapped but didn't think it was a yeast inf so Scott and I were kissing on her like normal and guess what happened next...Scott now has thrush. We just have so much fun going on at our house that i cant even find the right words to describe it all.

So i have a whiny butt rash thrush child and i get to spend Thursday thru Sunday just with her! how much fun does that sound??!!! Scott is going to Yellowstone with his dad and brother for an annual snowmobiling trip so me and the whiny butt rash get to hang out all by ourselves. Did i mention how much fun its going to be? So pretty much our life right now is still consisting of doctors appointments, infections and pains in the ass, literally.
